Durak with atmosphere
Play Durak online
Durak isn’t played in a casino. It’s played in the kitchen, on the night train, on the balcony or at the beach – and that’s exactly where you sit here: on oilcloth or a beach towel, with whisky or tea, under a kitchen lamp or a disco light, with your friends or against other players. Free in your browser. And cheating is allowed. New to Durak? The rules are quick to learn.

Not just another Durak online
Most Durak sites show a green felt and standard cards. Here you set the table yourself: whoever opens a game picks the table, the light, the cards and what’s lying on it – and everyone at the table shares the same mood.
Tables

- Compartment
- Beach Towel

On the table

The little things are right too: under the “Night” light it’s exactly as bright as the moon is shining right now. And at tables with cheating you can cut the power for a few seconds – for everyone else it goes almost dark, only you see everything.
You unlock new tables, lights and cards in the shop with the play money you win at the table. There is nothing here to spend real money on.

How to play Durak
Durak is usually played with 36 cards from 6 to ace. Everyone gets six cards, and the bottom card of the deck sets the trump suit. Whoever holds the lowest trump attacks first.
The attacker plays a card and the defender has to beat it: with a higher card of the same suit or with a trump. The others may throw in cards whose rank is already on the table. If the defender can’t beat everything, they pick up all the cards.
After each round everyone draws back up to six cards. Once the deck is empty, players without cards are out. The last one left holding cards is the durak – Russian for “fool”.
Frequently asked questions
Is Durak free to play here?
Yes. You play for play money, which every new account gets as a gift. It has no cash value: it can neither be bought nor paid out.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free account with a player name and an email address. That way your friends can find you, and your play money, rating and achievements stay yours.
How many players can play?
Two to six. With 24 cards there is room for up to three players, with 36 cards for up to five and with 52 cards for up to six.
What does “cheating allowed” mean?
You can play a card that doesn’t actually fit – say, a 7 on a 9. As long as it is on the table, anyone can report it. Then it goes back and you pay 15% of the stake into the pot. If the card was fine, whoever reported it pays. Prefer to play it straight? Just turn cheating off at your own table.
What is the difference between Podkidnoy and Perevodnoy?
In Podkidnoy Durak (throw-in Durak) the other players may throw in cards. In Perevodnoy Durak (passing Durak) the defender can also pass the attack on to the next player with a card of the same rank. You choose how your table plays.
Is there an app?
Durak runs in the browser and can be installed like an app via “Add to Home Screen”.
